Digging into the hardware of the Pandemic Treaty
Civil society dialogues with Geneva Missions
convened by Geneva Global Health Hub (G2H2)
In a series of exchanges with Geneva Permanent Missions and representatives of WHO member states engaged in the INB process, members of the Geneva Global Health Hub (G2H2) will share a set of core ingredients (“hardware”) deemed indispensable for a relevant new WHO Convention, Agreement or other Instrument to prevent, prepare and respond to new pandemics.
The first session on 12 October (Geneva) took place in the days before the publication of a new negotiation text by the INB Bureau. We invited Member States to use this key transition moment to engage in reflecting on matters that so far have not been properly addressed in the negotiation and have not been adequately represented in the previous drafts. A group of 20 representative of Geneva missions followed our invitation. Follow up sessions in 2024 more specifically referred to the new available text, and jointly analyse possibilities for improvement in the negotiation process.
The dialogue format of the meetings aimed to enable a genuine and honest interaction. All meetings provided a protected space for truthful listening and talking.
