As negotiations continue on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (PABS) system under the Pandemic Agreement, critical questions remain about whether the emerging framework will deliver meaningful equity, transparency, and accountability. This two-part civil society webinar series will examine key issues currently under debate in the negotiations, including contractual obligations governing access and use of pathogen materials and sequence information, intellectual property barriers, and the governance of pathogen sequence databases.
The discussions will bring together experts in global health law, bioinformatics, public health, and civil society to examine whether the PABS system will match obligations to share pathogens and sequence information with corresponding responsibilities on those who access, use, and commercially benefit from these resources.
