“Digital health technologies, solutions and approaches to decision-making are transforming the delivery of healthcare, and involve a complex web of stakeholders, such as government ministries (health, ICT, finance), decentralised levels of government, civil society organisations, private providers and vendors, health consumers, and patients. A digital health governance framework that responds to a dynamic health sector and addresses political, economic, security, ethical and other challenges is needed. Relevant issues include public and citizen engagement and ownership; data transparency, regulation and structures; and Big Data analytics. Furthermore, accountability and training needs are different but interlinked aspects of these challenges.

What policies and decisions are needed to govern digital health? How can we ensure that the advancements in digital health and artificial intelligence will improve the quality of health care delivery and foster health equity?
